Join us for an insightful presentation on how geothermal innovation can play a far stronger role in today’s and tomorrow’s energy systems. This session will explore the latest proven technologies in shallow and medium-depth geothermal energy and examine why, despite their technical maturity, adoption has remained limited.

The presentation will unpack the financial, regulatory, and structural barriers that continue to slow deployment, while highlighting concrete opportunities for investors, real-estate developers, and energy service providers. Attendees will gain a clearer understanding of how emerging geothermal solutions can support building decarbonisation, local energy transitions, and more resilient urban energy systems.

Speakers

Prof. Lyesse Laloui

Prof. Lyesse Laloui is a world-renowned expert in geo-energy and Professor at EPFL. He is a member of the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences and Academia Europaea and serves as Director for Europe of the International Associated Research Centers for the Urban Underground Space. His leadership in sustainability has been recognised with two honorary doctorates. Prof. Laloui holds several patents and has founded five startups, including Enerdrape, ranked among the Swiss Top 100 startups in 2023, 2024, and 2025.
