Founded informally in 2000 as the Geneva Petroleum Club, the organisation began when three Geneva-based oil executives met to discuss upstream petroleum developments. The Club expanded rapidly, attracting senior professionals from oil and gas exploration and production.
2003: Official registration in the Canton of Geneva and election of the first Executive Committee.
2020: Members recognised the need to broaden focus beyond petroleum as energy transition topics dominated discussions.
2021: At an Extraordinary AGM, members unanimously approved the transformation into the Geneva Energy Forum.
This evolution reflects our commitment to fact-based science and economics, ensuring energy remains affordable, reliable, and sustainable. Today, the GEF fosters expertise, networking, and collaboration across the entire energy value chain.
